My 2016 Beauty Favourites is better late than never, right? I was in two minds over doing this post as my everyday make-up bag still very much resembles 90% of my 2015 Beauty Favourites. Although it’s not as long as last year’s favourites, there still has been some amazing stand out products I’ve discovered in 2016.
The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer
Starting off with probably my #1 product of 2016 and that’s The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter. You’ve probably heard about it from other bloggers or if you’re friend of mine, I’ll have forced you into buying it. I own a lot of highlighters, it’s borderline ridiculous but none compare to this one. TOTAL GAMECHANGER.
Jaclyn Hill Palette
The only highlighter to challenge the above is the Jaclyn Hill for Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop Highlighter. Over the Summer, I managed to get my hands on the Jaclyn Hill palette – it was my Birthday present to myself! Champagne Pop did feature in my 2015 favourites but seen as this palette is a new addition I thought I’d give it a mention. The palette includes two highlighters; Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop and three blushes.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
I’ve never really been too bothered about blushers. A new addition, which I always reach for is the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in the shade Lilac Rose. Most days, I do look like a walking glitter ball what with all these highlighters and this Shimmer Brick which gives my cheeks a lovely rosy glow.
The Hero Project Hyasoft – Instant Moisture Boost
This does exactly what it says on the tin. If you’re looking for a major moisture boost, The Hero Project Hyasoft is for you. When my skin has been a bit dry and dull, this treatment is a major pick me up. I usually use this overnight and my skin is looking super fresh in the morning.
Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick
The biggest news on the UK Beauty scene was the arrival of Kat Von D. Luckily Debenhams now stock KVD as I was on the brink of booking a trip to the US to re-stock the KVD Tattoo Liner! What I have recently tried and fallen in love with is the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I currently only own one shade in Mother but I literally want them all. The name does not lie, the lipsticks ARE everlasting! They dry really quickly and even eating and drinking won’t budge it!
Maybelline Brow Drama
I’ve tried out quite a few new brow products in 2016, my favourite been the Maybelline Brow Drama Gel. This is basically a mascara for your brows, so simple and easy and keeps your brow shape and adds a bit of definition. This product is a great dupe of the Benefit Gimmie Brow and a total steal for only £4.99
Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara
I’ve mentioned the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara many times on here. I’ve tried quite a few new mascara’s this year and none compare to this one. It’s a mascara I keep going back to and I feel the need to rave on about it as It’s such an underrated product!
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
Towards the end of 2015, I got introduced to Kiehl’s after attending an event at their York store. I’d heard of the brand but I knew it was a bit pricey – well, compared to drugstore skincare. I tried the Midnight Recovery Oil (Included in 2015 Faves) and fell in love. For me, It was certainly worth the money. I received a sample of the Ultra Facial Cream and again, fell in love and ordered a big tub straight away. It’s the best face cream I’ve tried!
Urban Decay Moondust Palette
The amount of eyeshadow palettes I’ve bought in 2016 is disgusting. I’m officially on a palette ban for 2017 – Although the UD Naked Basics is still calling my name. I bought the Moondust Palette a couple of months ago, I wasn’t sure whether I would actually use it as the shades are pretty bright. It actually my dream palette, I’ve been using it all the time. It was fabulous for creating festive party looks too! The shades Magnetic and Specter are my go-to shades! I’m going to do a full review on this very soon!
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
Who’d have thought that when I bought this it would end up on my favourites of the year? I had decided to splurge on an expensive foundation and use my Boots Advantage Card points on the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. At first, I was not getting along with this foundation at all, it’s quite a light to medium coverage and I was used to quite full-on heavy coverage before. I now do prefer using something a little lightweight and this provides a really nice glowy finish and evens out my skin tone perfectly.
To finish off with, my fragrance of the year has got to be Gucci Bamboo. I picked it up in Autumn from Notino.co.uk – (See full review & haul here) and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s also not the usual fruity scent I’d go for with vanilla and floral notes. I’d recommend giving it a spray next time your in Debenhams!
Have you used any of these products? What would be on your 2016 beauty favourites?
