It’s becoming a tradition that I MUST visit London before Christmas. Who can resist all of the beautifully decorated department stores, lights and of course, Winter Wonderland? London at Christmas is my favourite. My Grandma and I took a festive trip a couple of weeks ago to the capital and stayed at The Grosvenor Hotel in Victoria.
The hotel was conveniently located right by Victoria train with a discreet entrance directly onto the station concourse. This was so handy when we were coming and going via the Underground Station. I believe the Gatwick Express departs from Victoria Station so the hotel is a great connection for anyone flying from Gatwick. The Grosvenor Hotel is also a short walk from the Queen’s residence of Buckingham Palace. On arrival, I was completely blown away, this is one gorgeous hotel! Originally built in 1862, the hotel has a mix of Victorian features with modern luxury.
The lobby which was decked out in Christmas decorations was a truly stunning sight with a very royal staircase up to one of their bars. Can we all take a moment to just look at the Christmas tree, decoration goals! As we had arrived really early, the staff were really helpful and as our room wasn’t ready took care of our baggage whilst we galavanted across London doing some Christmas shopping.
During our stay, we were in an Executive King Room on the second floor. It was quite the spacious room with twin beds (on special request) and a seating area. I’m presuming all of the rooms will have such a high ceiling but it pretty insane with a beautiful chandelier. It was one of those rooms that is just so nice you don’t want to leave it. We nearly ditched Winter Wonderland just to hang out in the room. The only problem was the room was so spacious the TV was mounted on the other side of the room. I was squinting from my bed whilst watching I’m a Celeb. There was, however, free Wi-Fi and also a Nespresso machine so you could get your daily coffee fix.
The bathroom was like ultimate bathroom goals and even had TWO rainfall showers. There was the cutest little bottle’s of Penhaligon’s products which made it a little more luxurious and a light up mirror so getting made up was that little bit easier.
The Grosvenor is home to several restaurants and bars with The Grand Imperial specialising in Chinese food. We went to The Grosvenor Arms for breakfast which also serves classic pub favourites throughout the day. The staff were a bit slow at seating us but eventually took our drinks orders before showing us the breakfast buffet with an arrangement of cooked items, breads, cereals, fruits and pastries.
As we were staying in an executive room this allowed us access to the Guoman Club Lounge. I don’t have any photo’s unfortunately as there were a couple of other people in there. It’s branded as a quiet escape from the city so I don’t think me snapping photos would have been appropriate. The lounge has it’s very own concierge team who are on hand to help you with anything. Alternatively, if you are just looking for a continental breakfast, that is also served here along with complimentary snacks and drinks during the day. Between the hours of 5pm-8pm, it’s happy hour and they serve alcohol. Maybe I’ve been staying in all the wrong places but before I visited the Lindner City Plaza in Cologne, I had no idea about these first class/executive lounges but they are brilliant!
Overall, we had a lovely stay at The Grosvenor Hotel. It was in such a great location and the hotel itself was just stunning. The staff in particular in the lobby were so helpful and friendly. My Grandma absolutely loved it here too and we would definitely stay here again. At the moment, you can snap up their Winter Offer where you can get up to 20% off the best available rate and a complimentary breakfast. The offer is available to book now and is valid between 19th December and 22nd January.
*My stay and breakfast at The Grosvenor Hotel was complimentary in exchange for an honest review, as always all opinions and thoughts are my own.
