Last night was the biggest night in fashion. It was the Met Gala in New York City where everyone who is anyone dresses up to the nines to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Arts latest fashion exhibition. This year the theme followed the exhibition titled “Manus X Machina: Fashion In An Age of Technology”. There was plenty of metallic ensembles as celebrities channelled their inner-robot.
Overall, there were not too many looks that completely blew me away. Many of the metallic looks all looked very similar. A few people disappointed me that they didn’t go for more adventurous looks! After a late night of watching the coverage and live-tweeting, I’ve pulled together some of my favourite looks.
I’m not usually a fan of Kristen Stewart but I was loving her Chanel look. As soon as photo’s emerged of her stepping out of her hotel, this look caught my attention. She looked incredible on the catwalk and her blonde hair and metallic make-up was just so on point. Kate Bosworth wore a gorgeous embellished Dolce & Gabbana dress complete with a stunning diamond crown. My personal favourite was obviously Queen Beyoncé slaying in a latex Givenchy dress. I’m pretty sure she is the only person that would look good in this dress. I was also a massive fan of her poker straight hair and smokey eyes.
Another showstopping look was Poppy Delevingne in a beautiful Marchesa gown. Poppy was one of the first to on the red-carpet and her fabulous dress set the standards high straight away. If you have read some of my red-carpet round-up posts you’ll know I am obsessed with Marchesa. It was inevitable I would love this look!
Zac Posen teased us all on social media posting photo’s of an incredible gown which lit up but the person wearing the dress was a mystery. Clare Danes stepped out in the dress fit for a Princess. Seriously, she looked like Cinderella and totally stole the show!
Zoe Saldana turned up in the most incredible dress designed by Dolce & Gabanna, it was possibly the biggest train on the red carpet but she pulled it off! She paired the peacock-inspired gown with her hair scraped back into a giant plait.
I’m not sure how Adriana Lima’s look fit in with the theme of the evening but she sure did look incredibly pretty in this Giambattista Valli embellished dress. Karolina Kurkova wore this incredible Marchesa dress in collaboration with IBM. This look is definitely in my top three looks and actually lit up! The lights on the dress changed colour depending on the tweets about the dress. I thought that was a really great concept and take on the technology theme. Oscar winner, Brie Larson wore a gorgeous tiered sequined dress by Proenza Schouler. Whilst Alexa Chung also opted for a sequined embellished two piece suit.
Finally, the sartorial goddess that is Blake Lively collaborated with Christopher Bailey at Burberry to created this gorgeous floral caped masterpiece. As always, Blake looked incredible and paired the gown with some oversized earrings and a red lip. Click here to find same style red carpet dresses.
