all things alice in wonderland.

March 1, 2010

So, Alice In Wonderland is EVERYWHERE at the moment, i personally adore it. Tim Burton’s remake of the original movie looks amazing! (i’m going to see it in 3-D on Saturday YEY!)

Last week was The Royal Premiere of Alice In Wonderland & the outfits certainly suited the film well. Helena Bonham Carter wore a Vivienne Westwood dress with a jacket and to fit her role as the Red Queen she accessorized her outfit with a Queen Of Hearts Clutch.

Anne Hathaways stole the show for best dressed in many eyes when she wore a Vivienne Westwood frock, she finished off the look with Casadel heels.

Mia Wasikwska plays the main role as alice. the austrailian actress wore a black lace Valentino AW09 couture gown.

Designer of the moment and one of my favourite designers Vivienne Westwood showed up wearing one of her own gowns and looking wacky and wonderful as usual. She also wore a novelty tiara and earrings.
Avril Lavigne wore a beautiful black sleek Dolce & Gabbana gown. Avril wrote the main theme tune to the new Alice In Wonderland.

Lily Cole came in a printed dress with a bright pink clutch (looks like the one i desperatly wanted from the H&M Jimmy Choo collection) she topped her lovely look of with some floral styled heels which are amazing!
i thought it would be nice to put a picture of Johnny Depp 😉 He plays the infamous Mad Hatter, he turned up to the premiere looking very fetching in tom ford.
Claires Accessories and Miss Selfridges are just some of the high street brands that are doing special limited collection ranges. Claires are selling alice in wonderland inspired jewellery handbags, socks and headbands.

Claires are selling lovely charm braclets. This one is been sold for £6.50, i bought a similar one for £5 and i love it. I also bought a similar necklace for £4.50 and i love that aswel!! This necklace below is also been sold in clairs for £7. If anyone is in london in the next couple of days (before 5th march) visit a pop up alice in wonderland claires store on maddox street. They have the mad hatters tea party!!!Not only does Claires sell some really nice pieces inspired by Alice In Wonderland, Miss Selfridges are currentnly selling tops inspired by the films to look at them heres the link: Miss Selfridges Alice In Wonderland Collection

Alice In Wonderland has also took over Paris. Top Designers have made a collection of clothes to be placed in the windows of Printemps, a parisan department store. The window will be showing the collection until march 14th, with the likes of Christopher Kane, Nicholas Kirkwood, Chloe, Ann Demeulemeester, Bernard Willhelm, Maison Martin Margiela, Manish Arora and the late genius that was Alexander McQueen.

Alexander Mcqueen – i love all of McQueens designs and this dress i certainly one of his great designs, i really think the fashion world wont be the same without him :'(

Christopher Kane/Nicholas Kirkwood:
Nicholas Kirkwood designed the gorgeous shoes and if anyone gets the cance to see a picture of the one-offs, they are absolutly amazing!
“I think my favorite Alice character is the March Hare. You can see I’ve made his watch rather prominent. This was a different design process for me, because I’m not usually so applicative—typically, I’m thinking about line, silhouette. But this time, I figured, why not just pile as much as I can on top?” —Nicholas Kirkwood

Chloé – “Running around careless and free in a romantic dress, falling down the rabbit hole, chasing time in a dreamlike state of mind, meeting unexpected characters with many tales to tell—sounds like many a girl’s night out!” —Chloé design team

Maison Martin Margiela – “Alice’s silhouette is a blue upside-down dress with cage sleeve, as if she walked through the mirror and her dress completely reversed. A long ball gown has been reworked, upside-down, into a minidress. The bustier in taffetas becomes a pleated miniskirt. The petticoat in plonge becomes an asymmetrical draped top. The skirt in ‘plumetis’ tulle becomes a veil. A cage sleeve of whale-boned velvet ribbon is embroidered with pearls, crystals, and recycled jewels.” —Maison Martin Margiela

Manish Arora – This window is one of my favourites, the shoulder deatail with the playing cardson the dress is so quirky and totally fits in with alice in wonderland. the dress is actually made out of foam but still looks amazing!

i think i’ll end my post here, as its kinda long atm, but leave comments and tell me what you think of alice in wonderland and if you’re going to see it.
